About NBNA

Our Mission

The North Beach Neighbors Alliance (NBNA) is dedicated to building community and advocating on behalf of local residents through creative neighborhood outreach and education. We are committed to responsible development, transparent governance, and collaborative action that celebrates the neighborhood’s vibrant character and preserves our architectural heritage.

Our Governance

The purpose of NBNA is to promote responsible development, transparent governance, and collaborative action that celebrates the vibrant character and preserves the architectural heritage of North Beach

Because our goal is collaboration and consensus within the North Beach community, the NBNA Steering Committee is comprised of members from different neighborhoods. According to our bylaws, no more than two members of the committee shall be from the same voting precinct. Committee members are elected on an annual basis, but special meetings may be called at any time for the purpose of appointing or removing members by majority vote.

The current Steering Committee is as follows:

  • Chair: Kirk Paskal, North Shore Historic District/Biscayne Beach
  • Treasurer: Glenda Phipps, Fairway Park/Normandy Isle
  • Tanya Bhatt, North Beach
  • Franziska Medina, Park View Island

Anyone interested in serving on our Steering Committee should contact us at NorthBeachNeighborsAlliance@gmail.com to express interest.

Our Members

The North Beach Neighbors Alliance is a coalition of diverse voices from the community, including committed individuals, organizations, and formal neighborhood and homeowner associations.

We welcome those who share our mission to contact us at NorthBeachNeighborsAlliance@gmail.com to join our mailing list. You can also receive updates by following us on Facebook and Twitter.

Our History

This group developed out of the collaborative campaign that successfully prevented an increase in floor area ratio (FAR) on Ocean Terrace in November 2015. For more information on this issue and related campaigns, please visit Save Ocean Terrace and Protect Ocean Terrace. Inspired by the energy and passion of that collective effort, the NBNA was created to maintain its momentum and channel it toward continued education, outreach, and advocacy.
